For puffers, listings that say '90/10 white duck down' or give a fill weight in grams are the ones worth considering. Polyester-fill jackets are lighter and cheaper but lose loft after a season. For shells, look for a stated waterproof rating and taped seams in the photos. If the seller cannot answer what the fill is through LitBuy, move on.
What to check in QC photos
Ask for the inside label, the zipper pull close-up, the baffle stitching and a photo with the jacket hung up so you can judge loft. Uneven baffles, a zipper brand you do not recognise, and loose threads at the pocket corners are the standard rejection reasons.
Budget and platform
